Huge Blessing!!!
D.J., Sam, and I spent about two hours yesterday and two hours today loading scrap lumber, metal roofing, and other stuff from a man who wanted it gone. We got enough good stuff to finish closing in the back shed. We also have enough stuff to build coverings for our hay storage, parking our tractor and lawnmower, and covering a fourth of the chicken yard to improve the roost and feeding area. In addition to lumber, we got some fencing, enough to enclose the back acre for the dogs. They won't have to stay in pens any longer (Nicole and TerriAnne will be thrilled). Now I just need the time to do all these things.

New Skills and Old Problems
Jeremiah began walking last week. He's thrilled with his new skill. He hardly crawls anymore. He began walking with his hands above his head, like lemur. Now he doesn't need the hands to balance. We're still not used to seeing him vertical.
Elizabeth found a new pet - a toad. Her hamster, Caramel, died a few weeks ago. I don't know what she calls it, but I told her that the toad needs to be fed to our snake, and we'll get her a lizard to keep as a pet. They're easier to feed.
Samuel is a Lego master. He creates all kinds of ships and stuff. He made a playground for his parakeet, Blue. It has a high perch and a place for her to eat her millet.
D.J. returned from Philmont a week ago and is leaving for Ixiamas on Friday. We are going to miss him again.
Jeanie is working hard at growing a garden. The weeds are relentless. With all the rain we got in April and May, the weeds got a good start. Now the weather is dry, and the plants are weak, but the weeds are monsterous. We worked out there yesterday and took out the weeds nearest the plants. The others will be next.
I'm working on the side, trying to improve our house and property, and getting ready for the coming year at Lakewood. I'm greatly enjoying being around Jeanie and the children again. Teaching school and working on the side left little time for Jeanie and the children last year. I hope to be around more this year.
The goats are giving a little more than a half gallon of milk each day. We drink it and Jeanie sells some. We have lost a couple of young turkeys and still have a lot of young chickens. I hope they are mostly hens. We want a lot of eggs this winter. I got the well pump working, but have to clean out the well. Someone dumped a deer carcass in the well some time before we bought the house. It polluted the well, but after cleaning it out and disinfecting it, I hope we can use the water for the garden and to water the animals. It's 30 or so feet deep, so cleaning it out will be a challenge.
